In Gårda – in Gothenburg's old textile worker and factory district – the idea was born to revive the proud hat production that once characterized the area, when Scots, Dutch, and English businessmen and skilled craftsmen shaped manufacturing and production more than a century ago in this part of town. It's no longer possible to produce hats in central Gothenburg as it was a couple of centuries ago, but we can and are inspired, fascinated, and captivated by the design and innovation in the vibrant craftsmanship that characterized the area then. And we carry it with us today, 200 years later, when we visit our friends and producers of genuine Panama hats far in the west – in South American Ecuador – or to the boundlessly artistic Japan in the far east.
We want EVERYONE – just like in Gårda in the 1800s and 1900s – to be able to wear modern, unique, innovative hats at a really good price. Created on the same premises as when people from different parts of Europe came together in Gothenburg a couple of hundred years ago.
